Goodbye Facebook, Instagram, Threads, hello BlueSky
/If you haven’t heard, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of META (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) is eliminating factchecking, and thus opening the door for widespread propaganda, misinformation and hate groups. He uses the excuse of too much ‘censorship’ for this roll back. And while I agree there is too much censorship on his platforms, it is censorship of art and the human form that is the issue. It is also NOT the kind of censorship META is eliminating. What Zuckerberg refers to in his comical justification video, are laws and restrictions that prevent propaganda, which is not censorship is called being ethically responsible.
So, while I will not immediately close my META accounts, for one, I want to use them to encourage people to either follow me here or join me on BlueSky, and two, I want to maintain my account name so someone doesn’t take it and impersonate me.
I’ve already removed the links to my META social accounts from this website, as well as the social sharing icons.
I am learning and liking BlueSky. I like that they allow nudity even though they may place labels on it, but users can adjust their settings to control what they want to see.
